How to Calculate RBT Supervision Hours
1. Calculate Your Total Client Service Hours
First of all, you need to know the exact number of hours you spend directly working with clients in a given month.
For example, if you worked 120 hours with clients, that number is your starting point.
2. Find 5% of Your Client Hours
Next, I want you to multiply your total client hours by 0.05 to get your required supervision hours.
So, taking the previous example of 120 client hours × 0.05 = 6 supervision hours required.
3. Track Actual Supervision Hours
Lastly, sum up the hours your supervisor spends with you in individual and group sessions.
4. Meet Minimum Session Requirements
According to the official website, the BACB requires at least 2 face-to-face supervision sessions per month, with at least 1 being individual (one-on-one).
My calculator simplifies these steps. So, here’s what you need to do:
- Enter your total client hours for the month.
- Input the individual supervision hours you received.
- Add your group supervision hours.
- Enter the number of face-to-face supervision sessions you attended.
- Fill in the number of individual supervision sessions.
Why Proper Supervision Tracking is Important?
You need to meet your supervision requirements to ensure that your RBT certification remains active, and it also helps improve your skills with timely feedback.
It will also help you in the case someone sues you, and you will need Proper documentation to protect you during audits or reviews.
